Location
Pulverbatch is in South Shropshire, approximately three
miles west of the A49 between Church Stretton and Shrewsbury.
A
route map is sent to you a few weeks before your arrival

We
have no public transport to Church Pulverbatch although
a bus finds its way to Castle Pulverbatch (1 .5miles) each
day from Shrewsbury. There are also train stations at both
Church Stretton and Shrewsbury.
We are out in the country! Our nearest village shop and
a traditional country butcher are about four miles away,
there are larger shopping centres at Shrewsbury (8 miles)
and Church Stretton (10 miles).
Shropshire
is renown for its quality restaurants and local produce.
Fine locally produced food can be purchased from farmers'
markets and independent food stores.
Castle
Pulverbatch has two pubs both serving food. There are some
excellent Inns and restaurants in adjoining villages that
also provide bar snacks and evening meals.
The
local dialect name for Church Pulverbatch is Churton, the
name is recorded on the wall of the local pub, written in
about 1770:
Cothercott upon the hill
Wilderley down in the dale
Churton for pretty girls
and Pulverbatch for good ale.
The
village is a conservation area and leads to Castle Pulverbatch
where there is a fine site of a former motte and bailey
castle known as the Knapp. A walk here gives extensive views
over the farms on Cothercott hill and the Devils Chair on
Stiperstones range - areas where you may wish to walk during
your stay.
